Need some help picking a year.
So i am looking at getting a newer GT 5.0 or possibly a V6 (havent made my decision yet)
So my questions are did gear ratios change at all? What are the mechanical differences for the newer mustangs? Also any big issues that aren't easily fixed?
I know probably all of you hate threads like this and i know i hate it on my forum also but the help will be greatly appreciated.

so some more research provides a lot lol.
3.73's or 3.31's
how do i find out what gear the car has?
no aesthetic differences until 13
the 5.0's had a problem with popping #8 at first but seems to have slowed down/gone away now with better tuners
doesn't seem like there are any big issues at all which is really nice.
looks like i will be going for a 2012 GT as they are in my price range.

Well if you get a V6, It must be at 2011 or newer, Ford retired the older 210HP 4.0L in '10 and the new 3.7 V6 has 305HP. Also the 2011+ V6's share the same MT-82 manual trans & 8.8" rear diff with the 2011+ GT's.... It also gets upgraded 2010 GT brakes... It shares the same rear springs & rear brakes as the GT.
3:31 is standard on the GT's & was a option for the 2011+ V6's, standard gear is a 2:73 for the V6. If it was me, I'd say overall 3:31 is a good balance of acceleration & fuel economy.
If you can only afford a older Mustang, Get a GT then again, if you pop on a V6'er look for one that has the "Pony package" you get a GT suspension (rear swaybars too, which dont come standard on '05-09 V6's) & 3:31 rears....

yea i am mainly looking at the 2011-2013
so GT or V6 was the question. im leaning more towards the 5.0 the more i read though.
It will be a huge difference for me either way as i am coming from a Focus with 125 whp... lol

Hay Fed Way, I'm close with a 5.0 GT Cali Special. Bosses will cost an arm & a leg because they're rare and will be no more and next GT/CS sticker around 40-42 most 42 because of options and tack-on for the dealer. Some people say wait till you can save-up and get a killer deal on a 2013 that's left on the floor with the 14's, especially when the 2015's comes in. The only difference I've seen in the 13 to 14 was a wider paint schemes. The 2015 I find highly dubious, 4 cyr Pinto/Stang with a floppy rear end.
Get ready if you get a 2013 for the POWER! 420 at the crank with premium = 359-370 at the wheel. This is Naturally Aspirated (N/A) very few N/A modded 4.6's can match that the 2013 and 14 have weeded-out many flaws and I have had no problems with mine. I think the 10,11 and 12 where test beds that helped fix everything for the 13,14 year.
#8 piston, I don't know or know of any one who has had this problem. I believe 10-12 had tunes that may have been derived from 05-09 models and where Force Inducted (F/I) to
high and who burn the #8. Ford even put out a directive on how to void warranties for modded engines. I just believe the 2013-14 year was the last of the real Mustangs and 2015 will be a Metro-sexual Euro alternative for a new younger crowd that doesn't appreciate or care for the historical muscle car. If you want a TT or M4 but can't swing the 50-60K get a 2015 Mustang.
You might p/u a bone stock 2013 and use the savings to mod it up. Most change the wheels and rims so why get 1/2 nice ones only to sell at a loss. I love my Special but a Track Pac model that you can mod would be my choice if I had to do it over. The Manual has been good to me so far, Auto is good for drag if you want to let the car do all the work. The V6 has 305 at the crank and a 2.73 rear unless you get a 3.31 with a track pac.
Most 5.0's do a 3.73. It all depends on what you want to do - Cruise = veritable, Drag = 5.0 Track Pac, Road race = Boss. But you can do as you please, I just say you might make a killing if you ID all the 2013's, wheel and deal then wait till that 2015 rolls out comes.
I'm thinking the dealers won't want any 2014 to take the thunder out of their big new Mustang.

I will echo that suggestion. I have ZERO regrets getting my 2012 GT/CS. I swapped on a set of take-off GT500 mufflers and ran a 12.8xx with a stock tune, street tires, and factory 3.15:1 gearing. The car gets mid-20s MPG on the highway, and it loves to gobble up asphalt. I've driven mine 18K miles in 12 months. It's gone as far north as Toronto and as far west as Texas. You will not be disappointed in the new 5.0L, but go test drive the 3.7L to see which one you like.
Not to nit-pick, but there's a lot of unconfirmed assumptions in that paragraph alone...

my buddy has a set of 3.55's that i can get for 20 bucks so that will probably be my first mod.
