How many miles between the tranny service. The rule of thumb is more than 75k and don't touch it.

when you put the new fluid in it won't have all the nasty little particals in it. the new fluild will sometimes allow the tranny to slip. a pcv valve allows the intake to pull a slight vacume on your crank case keeping presure form building up and forcing oil out the seals.

Do the PCV NOW! It's only like 10 bucks. If enough pressure builds in the crank case, you will blow rings.
Well, you could spray it with Carb cleaner. Shake it some, you should hear something rattling inside. If not...REPLACE IT!
