no, it wouldnt jump at all, it would just go in and the engine would go what ever speed it had to to go from 4th at what ever rpm to fifth. try doing it on purpose going from 4 to 5 at those same rpms and see what happens

The third gear is not engaging properly and staying on neutral. It's a simple transmission fix. No need to worry. Take it to the shop and tell them that sometimes third won't engage--no grinding or anything, but stays on neutral. They'll fix it in a jiffy.

Sounds like a syncro issue. If they have to get into the tranny though, it won't be a cheap fix, thats for sure.

Well I just wont downshift anymore then...lol because it only happens when I try to downshift. Shifting normal to 3rd or any other gear. no sweat.
