Default Bullitt rear end

I have an 01 Bullitt and am planning on beefing up the rear end. I've read that the factory rear is an 8.8" axle set up. what i want to know is how adequate that is, and if i need anything better when i do start adding torque and power. I'm already at 623hp an 527tq at the wheels.

should i stick with that axle housing, or go and get an old ford 9"? I'm pretty lost on this topic so any advice is appreciated.
