anyone ever paint the honeycomb on side scoop
I have a 2001 v6 and the black honeycomb on the side scoop and hood are looking really dull.Has anyone ever taken the honeycomb off and painted them, and are they easy to get out. Thanks

Yes. I have done it twice. Not hard to get out. Use a small, flat screw driver, go to the bottom of the honeycomb, insert the screw driver and pry up. Hope this helps. I used the Fusion Matte black paint in the can.

Now the honeycomb in the scoop was a little more difficult. I had to spray it in place. I was able to slip typewriter paper between the bottom honeycomb and the hood. It took 3 pieces as they had to over lap. Then I taped of the top of the scoop and covered the rest of the hood with a sheet or two. Make sure all that you cover all that do not want painted because this is a one shot deal. Good luck.

Now the v6's have different designs for their hood and side scoops so im pretty sure Special you had a little different experience because you have a GT. But yes massguy, the v6s are incredibly easy to paint. You just need a screw driver, wrap it in something so you dont scratch you paint (Very Important!) and just pry out. The hood scoop for the v6 are much easier than what Special stated but that is because we have a different hood. Once they are painted you just pop them back into place.
