General question
Hey guys, just joined. We are at stage one of an engine build. Not sure what car we'll put it in, but likely an 89 to 91 Mustang LX. For starters, we sort of wanted a 351W, but they aren't easy to find.
Can a put a 460 big block in those Mustangs? How heavy can you build a 302? They are plentiful and I hear cheaper to build. Probably would like about 450 to 500 HP for street use eventually.
Thanks all,
John

Yes, there are actual swap kits that allow you to drop a 460 right in, but your also dropping in alot more weight which I read can unbalance the handling if not set up.
A factory 302 can handle 450-500 hp at the crank if built right.

302 is a good engine thats easy to get ahold of, you can definitely get the power you're looking for out of it with the right parts. Look at other people's builds and see what they used to get whatever amount of power and go from there. The 460 big block is heavy so it will take a lot of suspension work for the car to handle half way decent.
