Default Ticking at 2-3,000 rpm and idling up and down

My car is ticking funny at 2-3,000 rpms. Every once and a while it will idle upto approximately 2,200 rpm. On acceleration at about 2,200 rpm the car wants to sit there when you press in the clutch. Any ideas or advice that might help? We appreciate it

Welcome to the forum, but you might get more responses if you post this question in the appropriate tech forum. Otherwise, now I'm not familiar mustangs of those yrs, but maybe disconnect battery for a minute to reset computer. If that doesn't help, pull codes to see what the computer is reading. Or search for a previous thread that had the same problem, and what fixed it. Good luck.

How does it idle? Does this happen when its cold? Cold as in you just started it and it goes away once its at temperature?
