Torque/economy difference between BUDGET NA 347/406 strokers
Hi there - im slowly getting into the Ford world, looking at a 65 project. I still have plenty of time to select a motor.
Ito a daily driver with serious power and reasonable economy (+- 20-30 highway mpg) which motor will produce/deliver what?
I know the 331/347 are lighter and will prob deliver much better economy in such a light car - Im just wondering what the weight/torque/economy variations are between these 2 setups.
By BUDGET i mean taking as many stock parts as is usable for the power, hoping to not do much if any machining - ie a poor mans stroker!
I wouldnt mind spending $$ on essentials, but since the car wont see much high rpms at all, just some burnouts - will be interesting to hear what others have to say.
thanks

First off, welcome to the forum.
I read the title to this thread and had to read it because the word "budget" and "stroker" don't usually go together. It would help if you gave a money limit with power levels you'd like. I'm not the most knowledgeable on strokers, but do know that any stock parts usually get tossed, not used. Someone will chime in here soon who can point you in the right direction. But for me, a basic bolt on 302 with 300-325 rwhp would make a very fun street car, can knock down decent mpg, and not break the bank compared to a stroker.
