Hi, thanks for reading, hopefully someone can help me out with this.

2006 V6 Mustang, my A/C isn't working so i tried the short the relay with a paper clip, apparently I shorted the wrong leads (I think) and now when I start the car my O/D light flashes and there's a check engine light on underneath that. These lights definitely were not on before my failed experiment with the paperclip. Did I screw anything up badly? Any help with this? I do not have a computer the codes.

Maybe you damaged the computer in some way? I had a 96' thunderbird that had a/c issues and then my check engine light came on. Turned out there was a short that destroyed my computer.

It's certainly possible, I know it still runs and shifts just fine though.

There's no way to know if you screwed anything up based off of what you posted. That would like me asking you what you thought of my infected to nail, without actually showing it to you.


You should seriously consider having a mechanic / Ford look at it and read the codes, otherwise your guess is as good as mine.

My thunderbird still ran fine as well. But it was throwing out like 8 different codes. 4 of which were the O2 sensors. I forget what the other ones were. Finally we had the computer tested and found out it was shot.

So on the advice of a mechanic I checked all of my fuses, I finally found one that was blown, #47. Now my O/D light no longer flashes, I've learned that this is a transmission relay fuse so that makes sense. I still have the engine light on even though it runs and drives just fine. I took it to AutoZone tonight and had the codes read and the were like 21 codes. I only caught a few of the long list, "evac system", "02 sensor". etc etc.
