Transmission for a 302 Cleveland
Hi all, i have been searching for threads on a transmission for a 302 Cleveland, i was wondering if a C4 from a 289 would be ok, or if i purchase a 4 speed auto-trans for it.
It is going into my 66 coupe after the 302 is rebuilt, so any info would be most appreciated.
Sorry if i am in the wrong forum, i am fairly new at this stuff, and not too sute on where i can find the best information.

Yes, any tranny from a small block Ford will fit a 302.
I'd like to hear more on this 302 Cleveland. Are you planning on putting 351 Cleveland heads on a 302 ? Not to rip on you, but I didn't think that was possible. Just curious.

In the USA "WA" is the postal abbreviation for the state of Washington. People in the US tend to be ignorant of other countries and not know that "WA" also means Western Australia, where Cleveland 302's are rampant. (Lucky bastards)
A C4 will be fine if you don 't mind not having overdrive. I have become addicted to overdrive and can personally no longer abide vehicles that don't have it. That said, the C4 may well be the best all-around automatic transmission Ford ever produced and an excellent choice.
