Pumping the gas does absolutely nothing on a fuel injected car. On older carbureted cars, pumping the gas pedal would squirt a little extra gas into the motor.
I'd try this, cycle your key on and off a couple times before trying to start it. Listen to hear your fuel pump prime each time. On the 4th time, see if it starts better. You may have a bad injector allowing fuel pressure to bleed off, or a bad fuel regulator.
Usually when a pump goes bad, they just stop working all together.
And welcome to the forum, hope we can help you out. Post back to let us know if this helps.
