Battery relocated in trunk....sealed box or not?
This was originally posted deep in another thread, so I am trying my luck with a new post. The battery tray is shot in the engine bay and I'm gonna relocate to the trunk of my '89 GT conv. Should I be concerned with a sealed and vented box if I'm gonna mount an Optima (sealed) battery in a billet hold-down? This will be strictly a street machine and I'm not concerned with meeting NMRA requirements.
Thanks in advance.

You mean NHRA would insist you stick a SEALED battery like the Optima in a sealed box anyway>> Sounds kinda dumb..

its just another layer of protection the help them not get a bad rep or some idot sue the track or somthing. besides sealed batterys get cracked in wrecks.

All this started up back when hatchback type cars got popular at the drags. If you use a rear firewall made of .032 aluminum OR .024 steel, you don't need to have a box for the battery at all.....
