Default Used alternator on new Ford

Not a Mustang, but a Ford so it could happen to anyone. Pulled the failed alternator off my Focus and found that it had a "remanufactured" sticker on it. It lasted nine years and I realize that reman alternator, reman engine or retread tires can all potentially give "like new" service but I didn't pay for a remanufactured car, I paid for a new one. Ford customer service says to let the dealer look at the car but this is obviously getting to the point where the hassle is more trouble than the value of an alternator. I see that the Regional Office doesn't have a listing in the phone book; I guess that they only want to be contacted through dealers.

who knows, could be something the dealer tried to pull to get so-and-so a new alternator for his just-barely-off-warranty focus.

Or it could be that the alternator failed when the car was delivered to them. Most alts and starters that ford uses as replacements (under warranty) are remaned.

Good luck with outcome OP.

honestly, reman alternators and starters are just as good as new. they are just skipping the expensive production part of it.

A quality reman is just as likely to last as well as a new one .... it's a not so quality rebuilt that I'ld get upset over.
After all ..... it did outlive the warranty.

Engine mentioned also, I would take a seasoned block over a new one any day of the week. Like fine Wine
