Rear Shock Removal - There must be a trick
#11
Yeah, when loosening, the fewest pieces between the gun and the nut is best way. Not only do the extra parts like extensions absorb some of the shock of the impact hammering away, you also end up with a larger spinning mass that translates into inertia. That inertia gets transmitted to the nut/bolt. What that means is you are more than likely back to the same problem of spinning the nut with the stud/bolt in it because instead of swift and strong kicks from the gun to break the nut loose you get muted taps that are more likely to spin the nut/bolt.
