2005 Ford Mustang Gear Console Light stuck on P
Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well before the weekend . I bought a Ford mustang 2005 3 months ago. This kinda just got me because when I pull the gear lever ti P(Parking) into drive or reverse or any other options, the light that follows the stick does not follow.

Basically the light is stuck there. And I was wondering what type of problem is this?
Thanks in advance

The picture you have, is not a 2005 Console, that is a 2011+, so do you mean
2015 Mustang?
In any case, that's all easy to take apart and inspect. IF the lever moves, but the
light does not, then the thing can be looked at to see if it can be fixed. Once you
take the bezle off, take the console shell off, then the "T" handle, then you can take
the shiffter top cap off to look to see why it's not sliding with the lever.
This shows you how to take it all apart, this IS for 05-09 Mustang, but all the S197 platform
cars come apart the same way. You can see the ribbon at 12:15 in. That moves back and
forth with the lever.

There was nothing wrong with the shifter. Here is a better picture It is a 2005!

Do you see the red light next to the ''P"? Thats what i was referring to . If shift it to any other (R,N,R,3,2,1), the light doesn't follow. It just stays there
