5.0 Aluminator TR6060 Swap
Alright, so I have an Ebony Black 2006 Mustang GT, 3v 4.6l v8, TR3650 5 Speed.
I recently started gutting and taking everything apart.
She will be on the operating table for the next couple of years and 30,000$ to 40,000$ no doubt.
I have tried to google a lot of this, and I have not been able to get any real solid information, so I came here.
I am planning on the Naturally Aspirated 5.0 Aluminator from Ford Performance, hooked to a TR6060 6 speed.
No boost, not going to add more moving parts for sake of power over reliability, but the Aluminator puts down about 500HP from the box, so I should be able to get close to 560HP-600HP.
Plus, I don't want anything getting in the way of that 5.0 and that sweet natural purr.
I am going to be upgrading the entire underbelly, the complete drivetrain, all of the suspension, and any engine upgrades that do not come in the box. (alternator, fuel pump, etc)
Shocks, struts, springs, camber plates, rotors, brakes, brake calipers, lines, control arms, tie rods, sway bars, panhard bar, driveshaft, differential, axles, literally all of it.
So, I need to make sure the upgrades will fit the 5.0 TR6060 platform. Seamless.
First question, will the TR6060 bolt right up like the TR3650?
I was going to upgrade the drivetrain based on the 3650, but I wanted a 6 speed, so if it all will fit the 6060, then I will take it. Just not sure how it will all come together on the 06' s197 chassis.
How beefy do I need my rear end? 31 spline? 34?
31 is common, but I am not sure if it will be enough for the 500-600HP the 5.0 will put to the pavement.
Will I need a new k-member, mounts, or anything for the 5.0 swap itself?
I can't seem to find a clear answer to this.
Will the 06' s197 fit an exhaust system for the 5.0 with long tube headers?
I would rather it all bolt right up and hang correctly, I don't want to do much cutting and welding.
Flex Fuel? Are 2 fuel types possible with the 5.0? Premium and E85? Do they require separate tunes to use?
I have seen someone flip a switch from Unleaded to E85 and pretty much instantly gain power on the dyno, I hope to do the same.
Any and all advice would be welcomed and appreciated!
