RE: convertible top
It might be the motor that drives the pump. I tried to look up the cost of the whole unit and came up with a price of $530 for a new one. You still want to verify you are getting power to the motor. If you are, take a look at the unit and see if you can separate the motor from the pump. You might be able to get a part number off the motor and just buy it. If not, it's probably time to hit the salvage yards.
Interestingly I found this on a site called http://www.all-parts.com/diagnostics...nvertible.html

Q: I have a convertible... When you hit the switch to open or shut the top, it just clicks - no action. Where should I look??
A: Power to the switch??.... Then power from the switch??.... Then power into the motor??? If yes to all three, buy a new motor
