A 460 will fit, it's been done hundreds of times. The headers you will probably need a BFH and I doubt there will be SO MUCH room that you can stick a turbo in there. I see lots more stuff in the catalogs for the 460's than I did 5 years ago, and if you look hard enough and have the cash, you can get whatever else you need for it.

RE: 460 In MY 1990 Mustang
some of these posts are a riot. ive personaly just finished putting a 466 BBF in my 90 foxbody. first off theres more room than a 302 at the strut towers. yes its heavier but by replacing the stock kmember with a cro-mo tubular kmember and putting the car on a major diet ive offset the weight difference. with the front coilovers ive adjusted the suspension and with #175 springs it doesnt sag at all. this is a strip only car and should weigh in at 3000 lbs with me in it. the engine makes 12 to 1 compression with FLATTOP pistons and closed chamber early heads with a mild port job. 850 DP, stealth intake, the Jegs 460 fox swap kit which includes Hooker Comp headers melling oil pump, pan and mounts made the swap easy. the engine was built by me personally to run N/A. 2500 bucks worth of machine work balanced and blueprinted, the engine is stout!!it should make 570 HP at 6200 rpmand a boat load of torque down around 3000 rpm. matched to a worked C4 and a 3000 stall 9.5 inch converter built by me going to a 8.8 rear with 3.55 gears it should run low 11s off the trailer the first time. fully tuned it should run mid/high 10s. total cost: 12 grand. time to build in spare time: 6 months. cool factor? off the charts!!! granted i drove it the first time on icy roads with slicks so hooking wasnt even an option, the car slammed me into the seat. ill never put a small block in anything again. especially after i saw an old coworker put his stroked and worked 347 FSB on a dyno, after he claimed it had over 400 HP the chassis dyno told him different, 290 hp!!! he sold it a month later.

RE: 460 In MY 1990 Mustang
ive been around cars for awhile and alot of my friends have SBF or SBC in their vehicles until i was the 1st to run a BBF 460 in my mustang.. its wasnt very hard..... for a stock 460 witha c-6 tranny... it runs really strong... a lot stronger than 302 in the 5.0's..... all it takes is 719 dollars for the engine swap... its a kit that comes with motor mounts hearders and some other things needed to convert your carburated 5.0 into a carburated 460... pretty sick if u ask me.. i like it

yea most of them are bbc's.lol But you cant consider weight when u have a motor that will put out insane amounts of power. if that were true than all the alcohol race motors would be small blocks.the bbf would be a great way to go. im doingit. like the old saying goes there is noreplacementfordisplacement. the weight u will gain, which is 250-300 lbs. btw over the stock 302, will be nothing when ur puting over 600 to the wheels. sure u can do that wit a sb, but it would be expensive andmost likely maxed out. when wit a bb u can have 600 wheel and still have plenty of room to go.

Yup I agree, with the avalibility of parts for the 351/302 motors you are better off building one of those. Look around at all the really fast Stangs and you see that very few are running a 460 based motor

way to heavy, 351 or a 347 stroker, at the most i would do a 351 to a 408, but that is still way to heavy.

I say by all means, go with the BBF stuff. If you need any parts, I gave a ton of high performance parts to my Dad. I had over $3500 worth of receipts for it. I thought I was done with cars, but he hasn't done anything with them. I'm sure he would sell them.
79 model Truck block .060 over,CK-10 Machine bored and Torque plate honed
79 model Truck heads, professionally ported with big one peice stainless valves(2.250), Comp springs good for .640 Solid lift, guide plates,Screw in studs, pushrods, 1.7 roller rockers
Comp Cam Hydraulic Flat Tappet .292 Duration, .544 lift w/ Lifters
Rods have been reconditioned and matched set balanced, hardend bolts
Crank has been turned .010/.010 Rods/Main
Eddlebrock Dual Plane intake
I also gave him a couple of C4 trannies, one of which has the big block bell housing on it.
If you would like to talk to him about any of these parts, Email me and I will get you in contact with him. He lives just on the east side of Columbus, Ohio. Just remember that money talks and BullS**t walks for that old man. He won't play phone tag or "let's make a deal" kinda stuff. He is pretty cut and dry, straight foward kinda guy. He has his own mechanic shop and is a very busy man. But everything he has is for sale to some degree.
