new to forum - i have a question

I want to know if when you get your motor re-built is it suppose to smoke after? Mine has been smoking for a few months now, the mechanic says it's normal, does anyone know if it's true?

welcome to the forum. if its already broke in a very small amount maybe when you punch it, but that doesnt sound good to me. if its black, its gas related, white might be oil or coolant.

During break in you may experiece a little but from what you are discribing, that's abnormal. Get it checked out. Also, welcome!

Welcome to the site, and a smoking engine is not normal. You need to give us a little more info. What color is the smoke, and when does it smoke? Do you see it on start up, or when you're accelerating? Is it possible you are seeing the condensation from the exhaust when you start it up that looks like smoke. You might want to go to another mechanic to get a second opinion.
