Default Should Synthetic oil be cleaner than reg after oil change?

Since they are engineered shouldn't they not be as dark as regular oil after an oil change?

I've never noticed a difference in the color when I changed synthetic vs conventional.

This past time was the first time I used synthetic (Valvoline SynPower) and I though it looked really dark compared to past changes...didn't really go over 3k either.

Most of the black color comes from carbon and not metal so there would be no real difference in oil color.http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ this link has just about every answer to every question to do with oil.

so what would it mean if there is an unuasually large amount of carbon getting into the oil?

prolly just that the synthetic oil is doing a better job at cleaning ur engine... sorry misread, unusually large amount of carbon might be a different story, maybe u have a bad ring?

the diffent color may be the diffent detergents and conditioners in the oil its not uncommon for that to happen when changing brands or types of oil. the color should return to normal after a oilchange or two.
