how can I tell its a 5.8 windsor
Hello all, I am requesting a little help from you guys once again please. I was going to fix the 6 cylinder in my mustang 1995 model, but decided to put the money into a carbed 5.8. I have a guy wanting to sell me one but I want to make sure it is indead a windsor before I buy it. Also can you guys give me some advice on carbing the fuel injected 6 cylinder system. I think I can just regulate the electric fuel pump on it, hopefully, also will this motor hit the steering shaft? Any help or advice is very much appreciated thanks alot

another way is to look at the heads. if theres a "2" or a "4" on the upper corner (front or back?) then its a cleveland. if no number, then its a windsor. we got a 2 and a 4 bbl cleveland, so thats a sure way to check. and you dont need to remove the valve covers like that site (http://www.vintage-mustang.com/topic...cleveland.html) said to see the number.

You can easily just look at the SHAPE of the valve covers. The windsors have a trapazoid shape to them and the clevelands are rectangular. Don't just look at the top of the cover, look at the surface where it mounts to the head. Cleveland and the other big blocks are rectangular in shape.
the 351 w is also substantially wider at the intake manifold than a 302/289 block.
The heads are all cast the same for the small blocks - they of course had a lot of differences machined in through the years, but for the most part they will all look the same on the small blocks.
