As subjective as it may be, I don't think I've heard a factory v8 that sounds better than a 4.6, 3v or 2v.

the cobra has the best potential, and the best drivetrain to handle a lot of power, with the mach 1 motor next. the GT is a good step below either of those.
and if you want power, don't waste your time with a v6. the v6 guys will say that the 3.8 motor is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but there are very very very very few of them with the same HP as a blown GT with factory internals. here comes the friend of a friend of a cousin know a guy with twin turbos making 800 hp thing...

im not saying the V-6 is the best thing since sliced bread, but i am saying you can run alot more boost through an essex then a modular, if i had my choice of a 99-04 id take preferably a mach 1 or a bullit even though they are still a 2v. but i do have to agree that i cant think of a better sounding stock V-8 the the 4.6

One of the mags test drove them and for the 1/4 miles times and the money between the 03 gt, 03 cobra, amd 03 Mach the mach was the best car for the money....

The Mach1 is a 4v. I personally think its the best platform to go from because you get all the potential of the 4v with the solid rear axle. IRS sucks for dragging, and its what these cars were made for.

I would rather have to swap a rear end and a pulley than replace the internals and transmission and install a s/c, therefore cobra > mach.

the cobra was an attempt to be a well handling mustang as well as fast in the 1/4.

and let's be honest, the solid axle in the mach still leaves something to be desired.

I dunno, those cars really dont have hp pouring out the tailpipe, and the track times they are getting are waaaay faster than that car has any right to be. with only 3.55s, I think it must make for a pretty solid launch to make some of these low 13s.
