Couple of tire questions
I Just bought a 2000 Mustang GT in october and I went to the tire racks website and put in the year make and model of my car and it said the original equipment is 225/55/16 and then I went to discount tire and put in the same information and there website said the original equipment is 245/45/17. So which one is right? My car is garaged right now but I need new summer tires soon. I went and looked at my car and the tires that came with it are 225/55/16. So were there supposed to be 17's on it or what? Also is there a machine at tire places that can tell me exactly what the biggest tire is that I can put on? I want the widest tire I can get this summer but I dont want them to rub obviously and I dont want to do any modifications to the wheel well.

RE: Couple of tire questions
i dont think any GT's came with 16" wheels/tires,,,BUT judging from the pictures on your cardomain site it DOES look like they are 16's
ive got no idea how wide the rim is, hopefully someone will come around in a bit and can help you
*thats odd,, i never knew 16's were on 99-04 GT's*

RE: Couple of tire questions
your gt will have a 245/45/17 from the factory you can go up to a 275/40/17. there is a easy way to check to make double sure incase it has aftermarket wheels or they have been swaped.
just looke at the side of the tire the numbers will be on there some where.

and if you look at his cardomain pictures, he's got a set of the newer v6 wheels,,
so unless he's driving around a GT badged v6, he's got the wrong wheels
the question is, did it come from the factory like that? or did the previous owner get crappy v6 wheels instead of 17" GT's

RE: Couple of tire questions
Well someone from another forum that I posted on said that the 2000 gt's came with 16's and an optional 17'. So it just looks like I have the 16's. So how wide of a tire can I get? the biggest I can fine are 245/45/16. Is that the biggest I can get without them rubbing?
