Default Swirl Marks

Is there a decent shop around here that would remove the swirl marks on my car and not take me to the cleaners?
Is it worth buying a Porter&Cable and doing it myself? I bought my stang in December and whoever had the car before me didn't do the best job keepn'er swirl free. The car is black so I got that going against me. I don't mind doing the work myself but I've never done it, I don't have the tools, and I don't know if I would ever use the P&C again.

Here's how I look at it. I take pride in how my Mustang looks, so I purchased the Porter Cable, various pads and products to do the job myself. It's also a great feeling to to tell someone who compliments your car that you did it yourself! There are lots of "how to" videos about the Porter Cable as well.

I went with the Porter Cable 7424XP and use Wolfgang products myself. It works very well. There are lots of different products that will work well. I do think that the PC is all I need and I have used it to remove swirls on 3 of my cars. Besides I think it's kinda fun to do it myself on the GT500.

I purchased the below kit from autogeek...

http://www.autogeek.net/xmtpocainswr.html

I hit every panel twice with all the products...#3, #1, glaze...then put a coat of wax on. It took some time, but the results were unbelievable!

The nice thing about having your own kit is that once you spend the time initally getting the car detailed, the upkeep will be easier. Plus, with having your own kit, if you notice any marks, YOU can hit it real quick and fix it, instead of paying a shop.

If you don't want to take it on yourself, I have used these guys since High School. They work on Porches, Ferrari's as well as everyday cars and the 3 mustangs I have owned and I am about to take my GT500 to them to get it buffed up. They are reasonable as well especially considering they do really good work. Ask them about the swirls, if they can't get them out, the issue is with the paint!

Altanta Tint & Detail. I think Chris is normally the guy I deal with. Been the same two partners the entire time I have sent my cars to them for 20+ years and they do all of the work. 770.242.6800

Doing it yourself is like therapy, And you get to know your cars exterior a little better. Get a pc and the right pads and enjoy!
