Default problems need help

I have a 1991 mustang gt 5.0. I have not crank this car in 3 years. I just bought a battery for it. When I take off from being park I hear 1 knocking noise. Only happens every time I take off from being park. And there is white smoke coming from engine I can smell it inside the car. I trying to get it running right . Any help would be appreciated thanks

Where do you hear the knock, front/back of car, left front, right front, etc ...?

As for the smoke it could be sludge burning off from sitting so long or a bad gasket allowing oil or coolant leaking into the engine. Where do you see the smoke coming from?

I was hearing the knock front left side. I don't hear it no more. The white smoke is coming from the middle of the car on top of the exhaust pipe
