Audi S4 - anyone raced one?
as i was leaving work the other day, i left at the same time this other guy with an Audi S4 left. i dont know much about Audis but when he started his car, it sounded MEAN - and it didn't look like he had exhaust on there either (of course who knows what's under the hood).
anyway, was just curious if anyone has raced one of these guys? i took a look on the audi page and it seems like this would be a good match up for our GTs.
here are some stats for those interested.

RE: Audi S4 - anyone raced one?
I had an S4 as a loaner for 4 days while my RS6 was being repaired. It had a V8 350hp I think. It was nice with dynamic suspension and fit and finish to die for but it is still big & heavy. I don't understand marketing a luxury/sport car and especially at the price. I still say it goes back to do you want a 21st century muscle car or do you want a luxury car that doubles as a sports car but doesn't do either all that well.
I did the 1/4 mile with me in the stang and a Z06 buddy in the S4 and I took him three times in a row.

A guy here in Memphis has one.... the one that has the twin turbo V6....lightly modified and I couldn't hang with my modified WRX...his car is very quick and fast. It might be a good match for a blown GT with some very sticky rears....

on wet roads and other suboptimal surfaces there is no chance for a GT to follow up, but on a good road it can be an equal match. I had an S6 and the biggest handicap was the weight and the the weight balance (heavy motor over the front-wheels). The differnce will come when you go to the autobahn, above 200 km/h. Then those cars have still good power and supreme stability and better aerodynamics. I once caught a Porsche S4 in a high speed right turn at above 220 km/h (ok, it was the question who had better nervs).
The V6 twin-turbo was a good car too that could be tuned heavily (which will be more difficult with the V8 now).
The Audis are superb cars, very good quality (mine had 160.000 high-speed kms and looked nearly as new. On the other hand, for a good equiped S4 you get a Z06 !!!!

my brother has an S4, we're gonna race as soon as his is broken in. straight line will be an awesome race. But when it comes to turns, Mustangs dont stand a chance. Quattro suspension baby.
