Default Noob question about the engine (pullies?)

Was just looking at some of the parts on the front end yesterday while installing the C&L intake and notice this piece already rusting! [:'(] Could be because of the snow we've gotten and salt dropped on the roads. Is that one of the pieces that gets replaced when underdrive pullies are installed?

It's normal. They all are like that. Wanna really be shocked, look under the back of the car. Mine looked that bad the day I took delivery.

To answer your question, yes, that piece is replaced when you install UDPs.

Yea....

I hit my GT with a can of black spray paint the first week I had it!

Ford saved $2.50 by not painting various parts.

X 150,000 05 Mustangs - they saved $375,000.

yeah, I kind if figured it was one of those cost cutting measures. Glad to know I'll get rid of it when UDPs are installed. As for the looking under the car, I already saw some parts all rusted out! This is not a car I really want to see that much rust on, can I still take it somewhere and have that rust taken care of? I saw someone that got his car (detailed?) and it looked great, or will that be overkill for a daily driver, will the rust come back after a while?

Mine was completely rusted out too. Replaced with Steeda UDP. Boy, they are AWESOME! My rear axle, UDP, and the middle bolt on the Shock Tower was also rusted on day 1. I believe it's fairly common on the 05-06 Stangs. I've seen many with this "problem".

Our engines are internaly balanced. Some engines it might hurt. He doesn't know the new 4.6 that well. Saleen and Roush and Ford I believe use Steeda for some of theirs.

I soaked the stock Pulley in Naval Jelly and took a wire brush to it to get rid of the rust, sprayed with primer and then a hammered gray finish.
I may have the crank pully powder coated or chrome plated since I am getting a SC in the next year that would look cool
