A. Your question is vague.
B. Searching should result in several posts about gear changes including the 3.90s.

What transmission do you have, auto or manual?

Just an FYI, the automatic has a 0.75:1 overdrive gear ratio while the manual has a taller 0.68:1 OD gear ratio.

IMHO, with an automatic don't go above 3.73:1 for your ring & pinion. A 4.10 or 3.90 would make it too steep and you will not have any OD left for the highway.

I haven't heard anything about Motive. I have FPRR 3.73's in mine.

Hope this helps.

if you have a manual transmission get 4.10's they are not too aggressive during normal driving but when you push em they pull you... just do it.-=)

get ford racing... they are the best no?

+1 on the ratio's. I have the Motive 4:10's in now and am switching them this week for FRPP laser cut gears because of a whine issue that seems to be a common thing with other than FRPP sets. I am staying with the 4:10's as my manual still cruises at 80 mph at 2800 rpm's. The improved acceleration is great.

buzzz wrong answer, both go with 4.10s, and realistically 5 speeds should probably go 4.30s

+1 to that....I have an auto with 4:10's and no way is it to steep for freeway driving, come on, I get 26 mpg on the freeway. Go with FRPP 4:10's, you won't regret it!

3.73 seems to be the best performers for autos and 4.10's for manuals from what I've seen. I think 4.10's are great accross the board but many auto guys have had a lot of hook-up issues with the 4.10's. I'd say 99% of the s/c autos I have dealt with (5-10 cars) are running 3.73's. For n/a cars, I don't see why 4.10's wouldn't be the best bet. IMO

Well, with 4.10s in mine, it would be basically geared 3.08:1 in OD. That is the same as my old 1971 Buick with a 3 speed automatic transmission. That land yacht would tach about 3200 rpm at 80 mph. [sm=jawdrop.gif] No thanks!! I like my 2500 rpms @ 80 now! Besides, if I need a lower gear at highway speeds, I'll just drop'er in D and be geared at 3.73:1!!

One note, I do turn OD off if I'm not going to be driving over 50mph. In the suburban areas, the 3.73s and D work very well. I think it shifts better also at WOT if you turn OD off.
