Default Throttle bodys and shorty headers really produce?

I was reading in my new 5.0 issue today that (I don't know the name) was claiming 8 + horsepower in an adwith the new throttle body. Also Jba was claiming 23 mores horses with shorty headers and a tune. They said theyhave the best shorty headers for the 2005 or 2006, no difference right. Their claims were base on a report from Mustangs and fast Fords. Anybody like to share information about this? I have no idea if you need a tune for the throttle body.

I can speak for the T/B from experience and what an experience it was! Yes, you will need a custom tune to gain anything more than aggrevation. Ultimately My tuner got good power gains from the T/B change but it was a challenge. Read the top post about T/B change tech in the beginning of the 05 section. Just click here

11.5rwhp/13.7rwtq gain by simply bolting on a twin 62mm TB. def a good buy IMO. i can post dyno sheets if requested. on a mustang dyno

edit: in my experiences with friends, no one seems to get more than 5-8rwhp out of shorty headers, tho ive never seen less than 5.1/4.2 (give or take a couple tenths, i forgot the exact #s). long tubes from what i hear generally net 17-30rwhp, and 10-25rwtq, tho i dont yet have any hands-on with any. combining headers with a TB should net a good gain because one increases flow before the engine and one after=more air and more powah!

Just shorty's and a tune? That doesn't seem right, they advertise on their own website 23.4 hp with LONGTUBES, H-PIPE, and AXLE BACKs.

I think the tune is what gets you most of the shorty #'s.

edited to add LINK TO JBA DYNO CHART http://www.jbaheaders.com/images/dyno/05mustangdyno.jpg

Don't get me wrong, I love my T/B and it made power. Exhaust, dyno tune, cai and T/B + 304.8 whp and 333.1 wtq and yes, a mustang dyno. Just saying that several other people have had major issues.

look at alternativeauto.com great write-up on headers and exhaust they tested! Basically said ford did a damn good job for once on these GT's as minimal gains were achieved with aftermarket plumbing.
