Revs between gears

RE: Revs between gears
the delay in rev downs is in part due to the programming of the ECU - it improves emmissions. the other part is the fly-by-wire - the split second it takes for the ECU to tell the throttle body to close and to tell the injectors to back off. a custom tune will pretty much get rid of this.

Thanks guys, it sounds like some of it's me, and some of it's the nature of the beast. The custom tune seems to be an alternative, although I am very new to the whole modding business, and am hesistant about 1. Spending 300+ bucks on a tune, and 2. worried that I'll get lost in the technical details and do something bad to my car. Letting off the gas a half second before pressing the clutch seems to help, although 1st to 2nd is just a pain in the %^&*. I always seem to get a nice "clunk" in the tranny unless I feather the gas when engaging just right, and man that is just too much freakin work! Ah well...I'll learn how to do this, or else! No offense to those auto stang owners out there, but I told myself if I was getting a car like this, it had to be a stick

RE: Revs between gears
I drove the mustang again briefly last night. Within 5 minutes I had the rev between shifts gone. The easiest way to teach yourself the throttle response is to go drive around barefoot. You'll have the beast mastered in no time. Save your tune cash for after you have some bolt-ons. That is unless you can get free updates. From my experience a custom tune is way better than a canned tune. However, I'm more familiar with modding LS1s so when it comes to mods listen to some of these other guys here.
