I think so... I mean at higher speed it would make a bigger difference then at speed for the 1/4. It does make a difference but only when looking at top end speed i believe.

Nearly all convertibles will be heavier because of extra weight added for reinforcement, but I heard Ford did a lot of work with this new structure so it shouldn't be a huge loss.

Just did a quick search, looks like the 'vert only adds about 120 lbs in addition to the weight of the coupe... so it's going to be a c-hair slower, equivalent to having a skinny passenger with you.

I can't imagine the top of a convertible would help the aerodynamics versus the hard top coupe.

the vert has a better weight balance, so I bet it can launch better

The coupe does have better numbers from the factory by a fraction of a second. If any driver that drives these on the street says he can tell the difference between the two, on the street, they r either lying or they're crazy. besides, the new vert is 5 times more rigid then the fox body coupes with a full roll cage, thats pretty sweet if u ask me.

If your planning on making a track/drag car, get the coupe...no brainer....if not I'd prefer the open air feeling of a vert any day.

The vert is supposed to be 150lbs heavier than the coupe. Thats .15 slower on the 1/4mile from the weight. Every 100lbs is .1sec in the 1/4mile.

true open air is good but you can't beat the classic look of the fast back
