Default 2005/06 cam timing

I recently broke a '06 bottom end and ordered a shortblock from MMR. I am currently experiencing problems with how to do the cam timings on these new heads. This is also my first engine build so anyone with any details would be greatly appreciated. Where can I go to find out all the torque specs as well as if anyone has any experiece timing there motors would be greatly apprecitated. I was told by a well known shop in my area that they would not do the cam timing due to the compelexity of the 3V heads that they could not do this engine build for me. I broke a piston back in Dec. and I'm in the process of how to do the cam timing and I'm really afraid of doing this wrong because I was told this is an interference motor. I have a forged bottom end now so I want to build this engine right the first time. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to time this engine correctly as I really can't afford to damage any pistons or valves on this engine build. I would greatly appreciate any help as I have been w/o my '06 Mustang Gt since the beginning of December!

Matt,

This is probably not the answer you're looking for, but if you're so spooked (rightfully so, I think) about doing the timing yourself, why don't you try to find another reputable shop to do it for you. Maybe you have to travel/ship it a bit further, but is it worth the uncertainty? I mean, that's why the other shop says "no thanks," it's likely not because they can't do it, they don't feel sure they can stand behind the work...which is where you're at with your own abilities/knowledge. Sounds like it's time to bring in a pro.

My 2 cents.

Best,
-j

since you don't have torque specs, it sounds like you may not have the shop manual. I highly recommend getting one, if you don't have it. With that, depending on your skill level, you should be able to walk yourself through it. Haven't done a cammer, myself, though. I'm really curious here, (hving an identical car) What were you doing when it popped?

I was out at the track and I had the zex kit running a 100 shot. I had the complete JBA exhast with the long tubes and catless h-pipe and mufflers as well as the AEM intake and a diablo tuner with the nitrous tune. After I made the run, I pulled up to the slip window and heard a loud knocking noise which sounded like I had damaged a rod.

Also, does anyone know if Haynes or Chilton have come out with manuals for our cars or does Ford sell a shop manual for our car?
