Default Oil Leak

I'm have a small oil leak. I'm not sure where it's coming from but in runs down my filter. I changed filters thinking it may have been defective or wasn't sealing well but the leak is there again. It leaves a quarter size spot daily in my garage. Anyone else run into the same problem? Any idea where it's coming from? I'll probably take in to the dealer Monday.

Could be a bad oil pressure sensor. Not sure if it is close to the filter or not, but I have seen some that are. The diaphragm in the sensor can be bad and let oil pass.

Are you sure you tightened the filter enough? What brand of oil filter are you using?

Are you sure the foam "O" ring was removed when the last filter was changed? I have seen it a few times where the "O" ring stays stuck to the oil filter housing.

Yeah I made sure the old o ring was removed. It leaked with the original filter on as well. That's why I thought it may have been a bad filter. I replaced it with a Motorcraft filter and hand tightened it. It still has the same leak. It must be coming from just above the filter somewhere. I can't tell where but it runs down the underside of the filter. I'll let you know tomorrow when I take it in.

Well the dealer is telling me that the leak is coming from the filter and they want to charge me for a new one. I told them it would be an awfully big coincidence that both the original filter and the aftermarket Motorcraft both leaked. They said they'll take another look. Does anyone know if there's something above the filter that could leak oil down on it? I'm really having a tough time believing both filter leak. Perhaps the filter mounting base on the block isn't square??
