straight pipes
Im running factory cats with an X pipe and no mufflers. My local tuner shop told me I needed to put mufflers back on because Im loosing my low end. I can't tell if they are trying to sell me some mufflers or if its really needed.
I would think the Cats and the X pipe would be enough? Any feedback would be great.

RE: straight pipes
its a matter of physics that the backpressure is a direct funtion of the length of the tube (more surfact area =more turbulent air), so more pipe and having mufflers will naturally cause a slight increase in backpressure and low end torque while refining the exhaust note (assuming decent mufflers here).
if you had long tube headers than i would probably agree with your tuner that you will maximize your torque numbers, and maybe even increase average horsepower (tho maybe not peak) by adding mufflers. however, with stock headers, i don't really see any reason besides noise level to put them back on.
