RE: top speed in 4th
I really question this stuff.....i can't see 4:10 gears makin your top speed in 4th around 115 or so....com'on my car runs right at 100 in 3rd gear with the stock gears....What i've seen on the net is that the 4:10's makes your cars spin about 200 rpms higher at 70....maybe I'm missin somethin but I know for sure that i would be pissed if I put 4:10's in and couldn't run 90 in 3rd. Please explain as Freako has 4:10's....maybe there is that much of a difference in speed...but it seems unlikely to me.

RE: top speed in 4th
My 05 GT M5 had FFRP 4:10's and you will have to shift into 4th right at the 1/4 line. 3rd gear is good for 100mph or more though, it ran 104 mph in the 1/4. My new 06 GT M5 has the stock 3:55's and I don't have to shift into 4th before the 1/4 comes up. I found the 4:10's make more difference in the twisties than the straight 1/4 mile. The 4:10's will kick it in the aas RIGHT NOW when you want it in the corners. 3rd gear with 4:10s is killer. Doc

you have to also keep in mind that you can take it above 6000rpm  ..."top" speed at ~6400 is more like 130-132mph
