Anybody have the G tech pro comp performance meter? I was thinking about buying one, but don't know how accurate they would be.

I'm curious about this as well. I keep seeing it advertised on TV and in magazines. I've heard a few members that have them.........but for the life of me I can't remember who
But anyways, the product seem a little too good to be true, but I won't knock it if it actually works. Hell, for less than 200 bucks it would be a helluva good tool to have.........again, if it works.
Anyone???

Sorry, my old man picked one up last summer and never used it. I know he has plans this summer to get it out and see how close it is to track times. The lit on them says they're good to 1/10th of a second in the quarter, but off the top of my head I don't recall what it says about its other measurements.

I know this doesn't help you much right now. But if you're willing to wait until early summer, I can get back to you.

Best,
-j

I've heard only good things about them... from people who realize it is in no way a replacement for real track or dyno time. The thing is that they are actually quite accurate, but where they fall short of other test methods is precision... that is to say that two identical runs will have the same measure, but would differ from a professional timing device. To a point, it's perfectly acceptable to use one to dial in your car or compare part swaps, but you can't compare your Gtech to your buddy's Gtech or his timeslip.

So, it is an angel's song for anyone who doesn't have ready access to a track whenever they want.

okay i'm gonna offer this info but give me no ****, my first car was 1995 saturn SL1, sohc 8 valve, 100HP yes only 100,I thought it was the fastest thing on the street so I modded it, I added intake, throttle body, wires, intake manifold, headers full exhaust, and some other piddly crap, and I used a buddies G TEC PRO it said I ran a 17.8 I was like what ever so I took it to the track.....17.78 yeah it was that slow, I guess stock it ran like a 22 or something so even tho it ran a 18ish 1/4 shaving off 4 seconds is pretty good i guess, oh and the car was even an auto...

I'm waiting for mine to arrive. It looks pretty impressive for $200. Hope it works as advertised. I'll let you know.

I just got mine yesterday. It's pretty cool. I haven't had time to really test it but it appears to work as advertised. I have tried one run, didn't quite make it the whole 1/4 mile due to traffic but I did have a 5.28 0-60. That's kinda high but I did have my a/c and traction control on, plus a full tank of gas so I'm sure that will come down.

I have an old one that I have had for a number of years. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I think it is close. When I had my 98 GT, I was just a little off the advertised 0-60 times.

I keep saying I'm going to go and test it on the new 05 GT, but just have not done it. Maybe tomorrow early AM? (If my youngest kiddo can sleep through the night!) If I do, I'll post results.
