Default RE: Sudden/Quick loss of engine power

All, I was looking for this. I have had EXACTLY the same thing (5sp AUTO) happen and only after I took my car on a road trip. First on leg 1, the car did the stall thing at startup from a light an very light accererlation and I was very suprised but it was like the TCS kicked in or the rev limiter cut in but I never even hit 3K. Then on the way home crusing at about 65 I tried to pass a car the whole car cut out again shifting down 2 gears down in a 5 SP AUTO. The car cutout violently once maybe twice then I just let off with amazement and did not pass... Then all the way home, I tried to make this happen and it would NOT. The car then would do anything I ask up to normal AUTO shift points. Any ideas here as I have read all the threads. THX.

Bone stock 2006 GT Premium Auto, no mods at all.

Sounds to me like you guys have the same problem as everyone else who had a faulty fuel pump. Every single problem everyone has listed I had. I had my fuel pump replaced under the "Hesitation on Accerleration after a long cruise" TSB. It wasnt only doing it after a "long cruise" so dont let that throw you off. It did it pretty much anytime I'd romp on it. I have had it fixed for about 4 days know and the problems are all gone. All the Highway downshifting problems, the bucking, the stalling all of it. It is a very simple fix and doesn't require much effort on your part, just get it fixed you'll be glad you did.

I'm pretty sure it's not certain computer codes mine is GYX1 and I still had all the same problems everyone else did.

Baileyd300 : If you want your car to do it again, dont let it shift at normal shift points [sm=gears.gif]

Thanks, this does sound like the exact or very near issue. I also have a stumbling/surging issue in first gear early in the day with the car and I live in hot Houston so I dont get that either.. DO YOU have the TSB number or I can I suppose just look up the text you sent me. THX very much.

I had posts on this long back and again since NOT going on any extended drives this has not occured when using a heavy Auto downshift. I've seen all your posts. do we have any firm reason why this happens, Is it the fly-by-wire or fuel pump or rev limiter. I did not exceed the rev limit. Not been back to this thread for a while but very interested in a fix here. thx

It's the fuel pump, for some reason it creates air bubbles in the line which in affect stalls the engine out for a quick second... The fix is the TSB I have listed a coulpe posts above this.

+1 with backinblack06. I got mine replaced like 6 to 8 weeks ago and have not had it happen again since, although I have tried to reproduce it. Prior to the replacement I could almost do it at will once I had been on the hwy for 20 minutes or so. Glad I got that done.
