And although it may be possile to get one for 23,000 Even it is highly unlikley unless the owner is a close personal friend. Even selling at dealer cost they make money. They get what is refered to as a Dealer Hold Back and that can range in value from 3-8 Percent usually and they get that money from Ford for moving the unti.

Flawless,
I am just going to sell my 2006 GT Premium Black/Black 5-speed and am asking $25,800 - firm. It has only 950 miles - I bought it with 4 in Feb. 2006. I traded in a 2004 GT premium convertible because I really liked the new 05-06 body style (+ hp) in a coupe. I am a convertible person, however, and miss that so I want to sell the coupe and buy a new 06 convertible.
I have not put this up for sale yet but it is just an example - email if interested. Good luck. - look for a good deal - you can save alot if you find a private owner and can finance - be prepared to provide a Cashiers/personal check or cash for payment and this will help.

I paid $ 23495 for my deluxe Redfire GT, and I got the second tier rims and Interior upgrade package.
The trick is to wait for the VERY LAST 2 DAYS OF THE MONTH and hit the dealers in your area, and mabey out of your area. With a little luck you can find a dealership that has one and is willing to part with it for the financing opportunity.

RE: Price range on a GT mustang
From what I am reading here, I got a better deal than even I thought on my '05 GT Premium. I picked mine up used from a private seller for $21,000 flat. I made the various rounds to the dealerships and got prices on GTs ranging from $24,000 (on a Premium '05 with 20k miles) to $30,000 (For the same car. I, literally, told this dealer to kiss my *** and walked out. I hate dealing with car salesmen sometimes.) When I called my bank, the MSRP they gave me on the '05s were $24,500 wholesale and $27,000 retail.
I agree with peristantthug, wait till the last two days of the month and hit the dealerships up. They will be much more willing to negociate with you. Also, if you can wait a while, wait till the dealerships start getting the '07s in. They start unloading the older '06s and '05s at that point.
Good luck!

Try visiting the dealer at the end of the month and/or end of the quarter. I did this and dealers were basically begging me to buy because of needed sales quotas. Got my premium GT for $25,500, totally loaded! Dealer lost money, but got the sale. Don't know if it matters, but this was a small local dealership and not a huge city dealer.
