BBK throttle body & BBK CAI combo
Hey all,
I read the MM & FF and 5.0 & Super Fords Mustang mags' review of the BBK throttle body & BBK CAI combo. They both boast a good increase of rwhp and rwt on the STOCK TUNE (Mass Air Meter Sensor is located in the stock position, therefore not requiring the tune). Now I know that a CAI and TUNE alone can net same numbers as well but for a mere 50 bucks more you can get a throttle body and cai intake w/o messing with the stock tune and possibly voiding the warranty. Here are my issues:
1. Does ANYONE have this combo and what do they think of it?
2. Is the TUNE NOT REQUIRED claim really true? Will it truly not cause any problems? Both say because Mass Air Sensor is located in the stock position the computer adjusts automatically for increased flow and does not cause the problems associated with other CAI mods.
3. My $$ numbers are based on 545.00 shipped for CAI and Tuner & 600.00 for TB and CAI from brothersperformance.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ah, the old throttle body question again. What a can of worms! A few fortunates like myself have benefited from the T/B change, BUT with a good custom tune on a dyno. Think of it this way. You are introducing a whole lot more air and our Spanish Oak processors are VERY cranky. To say it can be bolted on without a tune, even a custom tune is hogwash in my opinion.
There are a LOT of people on here that have had to go back to the stock T/B because of all of the issues that have arisen from it.

My solution, put back the stock and on goes a Vortech next week....

I dont have personal experience with the throttle body, but I have also read several threads on this site where many owners of the new throttle bodies are not happy.
Personally, Im staying away from that particular bolt on for now.

Here are some answers that are just my 2cents:
1-I don't know of anyone who does have this combo, but I do know that Brithers just started to ship them in the past weeks, so the people who have them might be slim to this point.
2-The tune not rewuired claim is true. BBK tested this TB and CAI out on their own 05 Mustang, and had no problems with it at all, no limp mode, no throwing codes.
3-Numbers are disputable because everyone has 'a guy I know that hooks me up', but that sounds about right to me.
