Exhaust Pipe Color

Exhaust Pipe Color
I put on a set of SLP Loudmouth mufflers last night and when I was taking off the SLP Powerflo mufflers I noticed they are pretty black inside. I don't think it is supposed to be that color. My thought is that it is running a little too lean. I have the JLT CAI and a Predator tune for 87 octane. I use 87 octane all the time because I travel 65 miles one way to work everyday and the higher octane will kill my mod budget.
Any thoughts on what is causing this condition? Should I hit the dyno shop?

RE: Exhaust Pipe Color
That is probably normal. I just replaced the slp loudmouths on mine because of a rear end collision and they were black. How is the sound of the SLP Powerflo mufflers coompared to the loudmouths. Ever since I added the SLP catted xpipes I have a really loud raspy exhaust tone. I know the x-pipe doses this but was wondering if the powerflos will give it a more deeper tone.
