Um...if your asking this question in the 4.6L section I think you already know what you want to do, and just need help convincing yourself. So here: Do it...

Seriously, we're a little bias on the subject and askin in the 05/06 forum would probably be more wise if you want a real debate on the subject.

just my 2 cents

Ins varies significantly by state. Get quotes first. Much of what you spend additionally for the GT you will get back in eventual resale; depending on time and condition of course. With the terrific fuel econmy of the GT, I sometimes wonder why there is such a thing as a V6 in this car. If Ford didn't have to engineer both versions they could have streamlined GT prodution and likely delivered it even cheaper and/or better yet. You all saw the dealer lots with plenty of 6's hanging around that no one wanted and no GT's. I say drop em in 07 or 08 the latest. No 6 going in the Challenger I bet ya.

How many people who bought the GT actually have driven the v6?

Just a Question. Nothing suggested by it.

i traded a 05 v6 for 06 gt , they are both great cars , but i have to say the gt rides and drives better. i'm older than most of you on this forum and i just love the gt it makes me feel 20 years younger. if money is no problem get the GT.

What mods would you do for less then 5,000 to make it faster than a stock GT. Keep in mind some tunes on the GT with CAI have been noted to be getting over 300rwh for only around 500 bucks.
Supercharger. Currently there are 3 companies making SCs for the sixxer (Procharger, Vortech and Dashworks Powerdyne). Two more will be coming out soon: Explorer Express is currently tuning their production unit twin screw blower and Powerhouse will be coming out with their turbo soon. The Powerhouse turbo has been turning 11's in the quarter although it is set up at much higher boosts than recommended for street use. Any of the above SCs should spank a stock GT quite handily though. A modified GT is another matter. That said, my personal advice would be to get the GT. When I got my sixxer you simply could not touch a GT vert for less than 2k over sticker, and they were in very short supply. Now that things have settled down, there's no reason not to get a GT (unless you are very young and the insurance is going to scald you).

well I know the 300 hp is better but is it worth the extra money.

Dude...if you have to ask that question...you obviously haven't taken a test drive yet! Go out there and take some ponies for a ride. Take a V6 out first THEN sit your behind in a GT and you will FALL IN LOVE! Vroom vroom!

Once I decided to buy a new Mustang I went back and forth between the V6 and the GT for a long time. I rented one of the V6'es for a week and was really close to buying one, but at the last minute I decided to spend the extra money and get the GT. I had to order it and wait almost four months to get it, but I've never regretted the decision. No matter what you do to the V6 it's just not going to be the same. Definitely get the GT if it's at all possible for you.

I drove the sixer first and must say I was extremely impressed by it's handling and power. Not so impressed with it's fuel economy in comparison with the GT. Drove the GT next....end of story. Then again my insurance is cheap so that wasn't ever a part of the equation for me

I dont know cars that much so i wouldn't know how to put a thing that makes a V6 go faster. So I want to buy the GT, I know my insurance would go thru the roof since Im only seventeen.
