RE: Automatic transmission 3.73 v. 4.10
757 my second and current set are precisions which i have never had problems with. most likely we are using the same tool for pinion depth and backlash. i think maybe i'll just remove the exhaust system and attach some dynomax bullets to the headers then i won't hear the noise and i can lose 100lbs to boot.

I bought 3.73 and am having them put in on Sat. From what i've been told, putting 3.73s in an auto is the same as putting 4.10 in a standard. In fact, I think the auto will be even geared better. The advantage with going to 4.10 over 3.73 in a auto is VERY small and its not worth the gas mileage that you will lose.

Yeah, ive heard about this new gear vs old as well. Apparently is has something to do with the old ones being machined and the new ones being laser cut and beveled. I would definitely also like to know the part # and what the real info is on that. Also anyone heard of micronite? its supposed to be a process which makes the gears virtually soundless and more durable and with less friction.

called Ford Racing answered my own question. The "new" 3.73 gear part is 4209-F373N
in re: 4.10 v 3.73 they said on the expressway, around town the 3.73 is just a more driveable gear, better gas milage, less whine.

do u need to buy the installation kit or bearing kit with the purchase of 3.73 gears by FRPP? and how much does installation of this product usually cost... around the eastern region (Maryland)?
