CAI or drop in filter

CAI or drop in filter
How much extra flow should i get if i decided not to get the CAI and to just take out the Hydro carbon filter and add a drop in K&N airfilter. Most CAI are over 300 and the drop in filters are only 40 bucks. I know the CAI would result in more hp, but is that price worth that much more money?

RE: CAI or drop in filter
The stock airbox actually will flow more than the cold air intakes available due to it's box's volumn at most RPM's lower than 5K. The Cold Air Intake however does look better. The increase in output from the motor is due to the PCM being retuned.
With the CAI, I would do a couple of Used Motor Oil analysis to ensure your silica remains acceptable. These aftermarket filters have the capability to flow better at very high velocities - because - you got it - they filter LESS (e.g. let more dirt in as evidenced by higher motor oil silca levels). Is that what you want??
