Default Stereo Intallation

I was wondering, If I have the battery unplugged for too long will that reset anything in my car or have any side effects


I have a
2006 Mustang GT
w/factory alarm system and anti theft

it will indeed reset the "learned" settings in the ecu, as well as the radio and possibly the alarm settings back to default. nothing will be harmed though. if you have an SCT/diablo tune you will need to possibly reload it

I had my battery disconnected over the winter and to my suprise i didn't lose my radio presets or my brenspeed tune.

i stand corrected then...but on my 97, and the dozen or so other cars ive done in depth stereos in, presets were lost after the *15 minute* disconnection period.

Now we know why everyone's batteries have been going flat. The shaker in all it's glory creates an unbreakable bond with your car's battery to keep those presets from vanishing; it even defies battery disconnection *gasp*!

yeha the second you discennect the neg termal on the battery all the codes and everything is reset when it reconnected. this is why you radio settings are normally gone and the ecu is reset.
