motive gears?
Seams people are having trouble with gear whine with motives and none with the ford racing gears, is it because the motives are no good or just harder to install? Talked to Brenspeed and they only sell the high performance motive gears and have had no issues with them. They use them and sell alot of them to customers with no complaints, they say. Also, be aware that there are cheaper motives also, the high performance ones are the good ones. My mechanic said he installed them in trucks and never had a problem, but reading these threads makes me a little skiddish on the motives. Anyone have motives in their GT that have anything good to say about them as they would save me about $90 with the install kit through Brenspeed vs. Jegs Ford racing set. And as fuel prices are getting rediculous, are 4:10's the right choice as a daily driver w/5spd? I'm willing to give up a little mileage and don't hardly ever get on interstates, mostly all country backroads driving. If you can tell me a cheaper place to get ford gears and any mpg change info with various ratios please post them. would 4:30's kill my now 21 mpg average?

RE: motive gears?
i have a 05 gt /5 spd and put the ford 4.10 in there awhile back, havent had a problem with them and honestly i didnt even tell a mpg loss.. if any then it was prob 1mpg around town.. just dont drive 80mph on the highway constantly and you are good i think.

RE: motive gears?
Had motives in for a week and then threw them out for FRPP 4:10's.
Drive 80 regularly and lost about 2/10ths mpg. Tried to redo the motives twice with no luck. FRPP perfect from the start.

so, if it didn't really change the mileage, do you think maybe 4:30's would only slightly drop mpg average? Did the 4:10's give you a noticable kick in the pants? And if you could do it over would you stay with 4:10's?

RE: motive gears?
yes i would stay with the 4.10's personally i believe if you are going to drag this car a lot or you just really want some kick in the pants then i would get 4.30's but 4.10 was far good enough for me.. 1st gear is pretty damn short now heh, brent has 4.30's in his car or he did last time i talked to him and he told me that he didnt lose any mpg, which i believe because i didnt lose any switchign to 4.10's.
