Best Pipes to get?

Best Pipes to get?
I was wondering... I dont know much about cars but I am going to start modding my 06 GT. When I got to the pipes I have no idea why pipes make a car faster... and what kind are the best to get... OR are they simply for sound? thanks

RE: Best Pipes to get?
Depends on which part of the pipes you want to modify. You mean headers, mid section or axle back mufflers? Specifics will help. Generally speaking the more air you can exhaust from a car the better it will perform, but then there is a limit before the loss of restriction can actually hurt the performance. You want more air out, put more air in, for example a CAI and tune will get you better performance from an axle-back upgrade than just upgrading the mufflers.
Adding a supercharger will net gain even more from this and then changing the mid-pipe type can begin to yield positive results and getting higher flowing cats and headers will begin to help more...
Hope this helps rather than confuses, I've had very little sleep this week...

RE: Best Pipes to get?
Well, I was wondering how to add a little more HP to the car with exaust and w/o a charger. Im not looking for BIG HP gains just some suddle ones.
I do know its possible to gain HP through exhaust but I have no clue how.
Do you think you could help me with this?

I have no idea what parts of the exhaust will add the HP.
I really have no clue about it at all. The only thing I know is that pipes can add noise lol.
But Id like to add Hp so suggestions on what I should do with the exhast if im not planning on doing anything else besides maybe air intake in the FUTURE would help. thx

If you're looking for instant gains then you HAVE to get a Cold Air Intake, which one could set off a multi page debate so I'll start by recommending what I have installed, the Tunable Induction CAI and SCTII tuner package. CLICK THIS LINK
Running the higher octane tunes can net slightly higher gains in horsepower and add a nice 4-barrel carb type sound to the engine, throttle response is instant and so is the feel of the car. I'm not saying it's huge, but it is enough to take you from a loss to a win. Add decent axle-back mufflers like the Borla or MAC's and you can add a couple of horsepower more, well, that can be debated but they can't hurt!
Just this setup can get you very close if not at 300hp to the rear wheels.

RE: Best Pipes to get?
Are the MAC ones the same for the 05 and 06 GT?
Heres a link to the store.
http://www.ninosport.com/browseprodu...ustang-GT.html
It has them listed as 05 and 06 but on the description it says 05 only.

The MAC's are the same for the '05 and '06's and since those are what I have I can speak about them, they definately add some serious sound to the car! As for gears voiding the warranty, yes they can affect the driveline warranty unless you find a dealer willing to perform the duty and include it in the warranty coverage. This will depend on the dealer, mine says they will not do it and if I do they will not consider my rear end under warranty although the engine/car will be covered still.
The warranty debate is a hard one to figure out simply because you have dealers that view things differently and will impose their will leaving you to either fight them or find a new dealer.
