So the other day i'm out for a walk and i see this white mustang with blue rocker panel stripes. Engaging my interest i look a little closer and see an svt emblem on the rear deck. check the badge and it says GT. rims are chrome cobra (5 spoke) rims and there was also a cobra badge on the front fenders. Front grill and hood along with spoiler looked like stock GT's. what is up with this?? is ford svt making cobras that aren't the shelby cobra 500.... or was someone just trying to make their gt look like a copycat cobra and doing a pretty poor job of it?

A lot of people went out and bought Cobra, Mach I, and all kinds of other classic emblems to pay "tribute" to the past with their new Retro stangs. Though they aren't real Cobras.

No, the Shelby GT500 is the only new SVT made mustang being made.......and it isn't available yet. You saw a custom clone.

Correct me if I am wrong (And I very well could be.), but didn't I see an article in these forums about a 850hp mustang that was going to be produced by the SVT?

No, that was another tuner company (don't remember the name).....not SVT. As far as I know, SVT isn't making anymore cars other than the GT500

SVT is no more. I think Ford dropped them in favor of Shelby, though the only reason why the Shelby has SVT emblems is because SVT helped with it. As far as producing these vehicles I think that's all Shelby.

I read a press release (dated april 13th 2006) that ford reversed the decision to axe SVT, and as far as shelby building the new cobra, thats just not so, SVT built the thing, shelby just put his 2 cents in on the tune and suspension. For one I dont understand the thinking of putting shelby's name on the car, shelby american is building their own tuner mustangs anyways so why badge the new cobra as a shelby????? As far as future products are concerned the press release says they are going to do a truck as well, dont know if its the sport trac adrenalin or the lightning, either would be hella fast though
