Balancer pulley removal
I recently got the steeda underdrive pulleys, and I went to the local auto parts store to rent a puller for the balancer wheel and they said that they dont have anything. i think that they are just stupid and dont know what they are talking about, so can anyone help me with a type of puller, part # or sometime of that nature.

Just a standard 3 jaw puller. nothing special about it ( other than the fact that it is the only thing that will work ). You can buy one for not a lot more than it would cost to rent one. Go to Sears.

HOWEVER, make sure the center screw is long enough, I had an el-cheapo one from years ago, it was 1/4 inch too short to get the balancer off. Had to go buy a name brand one.

[:@]got 2 seperate 3jaw pullers and neither had the right configuration, so i ended up using a pry bar, turning the engine half way over every time i pulled it a lil looser. didn mess anything up (driven up UDP's for 15k miles now), but i don recommend this method to anyone else

Notice here that I used the standard bolt supplied by steeda to remove the pulley,
notice how I used the Nail Puller to hold the Pulley from turning. works fantastic.

I borrowed one from Auto Zone that is for Dodge/ Chrysler balancers. It is a small thing so you don't have to pull fans or radiators. It also comes with some hardened rods that fit through the bolt hole and push against the bottom of the hole against the crank. Which ever one you use be sure to grab the hub of the balancer and not around the outer edge incase you want to use it again.
