Clutch acts weird in wet weather
I've noticed that every time I take my '06 GT out on a rainy day, the clutch is overly touchy and grabby. It feels to me like (and this might sound odd, seeing as how I'm no mechanic) the clutchplate is getting wet, which changes the coefficient of friction between clutchplate and flywheel (if that's correct?).
1. Is this normal? Everyone I've talked to that drives a manual says it's not, but I don't know anyone else that owns an '06 GT, let alone a manual one.
2. Do you think there's any truth to my theory about the cluthplate getting wet? If so, please confirm, as it will give me something to push back to the dealership if need be. If not, then do you have any better theories I can suggest to them? This is going to be a real pain, as I can't very well schedule a visit on a "rainy day", unless by luck :-\.
This behavior has been happening consistantly on rainy days; probably happened half a dozen times now. Unfortunately I don't drive it very far to work and back, so I can't really say if it works its way out of it (ie: dries out). I believe it does though, just slowly...
Thanks in advance!
Oh, and it's my daily driver, so please don't respond with "you shouldn't drive it in the rain, silly" Not all of us can own separate "pleasure" and "work" cars (yet)!

RE: Clutch acts weird in wet weather
I have never had that problem, that would deffinetly be out of the ordinary. However if it feels that way as soon as you get in it then it's not because it's wet as there would be no way for the clutch to get wet sitting still unless of course your car is sitting in a foot of water.

RE: Clutch acts weird in wet weather
Thanks for the post, 1QuickShortBus. No, the car's definitely not sitting in any water, just a regular old parking lot with decent drainage.
Thanks for verifying that it isn't normal. I guess I'll have to just take it in and see what they can find...I am afraid unless I happen to get there on a rainy day that this is going to be one of those "well we couldn't get it to happen..." situations [:'(]
Any other comments?
