hard starting off in 05gt
Is it just me or is the 5speed hard to start off in 1st gear? It seems if i dont give mine a pretty good bit of throttle and clutch it bucks in 1st. It may be that i dont drive it very often or it may be the drive by wire deal. I took it to my mechanic today for the engine light-- something with the coils says the code reader on my tuner. He drove it and said he has never felt on buck like that. He is a chevy guy so maybe he hasnt driven a mustang before mine. Is this normal?

mine will buck in first- it likes to 'go' in first, not cruise at 5mph...do the gas pedal calibration thing, it might help a little bit, but otherwise just make a little more noise I think the bucking is from the motor mounts winding up. Can be rough on things...

They are a little twitchy in first. But in truth it is very common for high torque, large clutch plate, vehicles with decent gears. I dont know if I woud say it is the throttle 100%, but the delay doesent help things.

My wife was complaining about the same thing. I hadnt noticed. What is the "gas pedal calibration" thing?

I heard that if you turn the key to ON and wait til all the normal lights in the dash go out, then slowly press the gas pedal until it is floored and release. Turn key off, wait about 6 seconds and then start your car. Gets rid of most if not all of the throttle lag. Give it a try.

The "bucking" in first is due to the 300hp getting behind a pretty short gear. If I'm in stop and go, or I'm in a situation where I need to cruise at low low speeds...I put her in second gear. I only use first when I'm taking off from a light or when I'm about to get up to highway speeds. Don't use first gear for slow moving or cruising.

This is hard to explain, but try holding in the clutch for anohter sec before you relase it %100. what Im trying to say is at the very top of the clutch right before you let go of it and your on the gas; just hold it there for another sec and ease off. Thats really hard to explain in words, but i hope that helps.
